Job summary

SEMA Education is seeking a mechanical product development engineer in Redford, Michigan. The role focuses on generating Solidworks CAD designs for supercharger hardware, performing CAE analyses, and supporting powertrain calibration and certification activities.

You will perform vehicle fitment testing, validation, and shop installations, while coordinating with marketing and sales for data and guides on new launches. 1–5 years of automotive aftermarket experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Solid CAD skills in Solidworks are mandatory.
  • 1-5 years in mechanical product development, ideally within the automotive aftermarket.
  • Experience with powertrain calibration and calibration tools (HP Tuners) is a plus.
  • Ability to design and develop consumer products, ideally powertrain, and bring them from idea to market.

  • Design and engineering: generate Solidworks CAD designs and drawings with engineers to create supercharger hardware; perform analysis to support design efforts; assist calibration and certification activities.

  • Hands-on Validation: Perform vehicle fitment testing, performance validation, and installation in the shop.
  • Product Roll-out: Coordinate with marketing and sales to provide technical data, installation guides, and specifications for new product launches.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve design or manufacturing defects in existing product lines based on customer feedback. Provide remote customer technical support.
  • Experience: 1-5 years in mechanical product development, ideally within the automotive aftermarket.
