Design & Development Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Job Type: full time, permanent

We have a great opportunity for a Design & Development Engineer, to join our friendly team in an established engineering business in Indianapolis, IN.

The ideal candidate will have automotive mechanical experience plus ideally CAD design (SolidWorks). A hands-on attitude is essential.

Quality in our business is top priority and we need an individual who can demonstrate a high focus on quality and a right first-time attitude.

You will play a key role in the design of engine driven (FEAD) mounting kits and accessories, the job role will involve running a project from concept through to testing and release to manufacture.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Produce engineering designs, 3D models and assemblies using Solidworks software
• Creating detailed manufacturing drawings to the latest GD&T specifications
• Project management
• Problem Solving
• Compiling Part numbers & BOM’s
• Assisting in the creation of fitting instructions for the products you design

Required attributes:

• Relevant Engineering qualification to a HND or above
• 2-5 years’ experience developing products
• Proficient in Solidworks software
• Mechanical design calculations - FEA analysis and awareness of other computational analysis tools.
• Disciplined and well-organised to support documentation and deadline dates
• A knowledge of automotive engines and systems with the ability to work on them competently

· Understanding of cast part modelling and machined drawing creation.

• Experience using basic hand tools
• Strong Microsoft Office knowledge

Full training will be provided to participate in design projects including liaising with other departments and members of the design team.
