Role Description

The Design Detailer CAD Draftsperson is a full-time, on-site role based in San Antonio, TX. This position is responsible for producing detailed CAD drawings and layouts for standing-seam metal roof systems and self-storage structures, based on project specifications, engineering standards, and building codes. Day-to-day activities include interpreting architectural and structural plans, preparing shop drawings and fabrication details, updating and revising drawings as projects progress, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and production teams to ensure accuracy and constructability. The role also involves maintaining organized drawing files, supporting material takeoffs and bill of materials creation, and responding to technical questions from internal teams and field personnel. The Design Detailer CAD Draftsperson is expected to meet deadlines, follow company standards, and contribute to continuous improvement of drafting processes.

Qualifications

• Strong CAD drafting skills, including proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar) and familiarity with 2D and 3D detailing.
• Experience reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings, as well as applying relevant building codes and standards.
• Knowledge of metal roof systems, building components, or similar construction disciplines; experience with self-storage or commercial/industrial projects is beneficial.
• Attention to detail, accuracy in dimensioning and notation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple drawing sets and revisions.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, project managers, and production teams, and the ability to document and clarify technical requirements.
• Ability to work full time on-site in San Antonio, TX, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting, CAD technology, engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or an engineering support role is preferred, along with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
