Job summary

50 Floor is seeking a Design Consultant for a full-time remote role focused on guiding customers through flooring choices that fit their homes, lifestyles, and budgets. You will connect with customers in their homes when needed, discuss needs, present options, and recommend designs.

You will prepare quotes and support the sales process through follow-ups to ensure a smooth experience from consultation to installation.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service with active listening and supportive guidance.
• Proven sales abilities including consultative selling and closing in-home sales.
• Experience or training in interior design to coordinate colors, textures and styles.
• Knowledge of furniture and furnishings and how flooring interacts with décor.
• Comfort working remotely with reliable internet and basic CRM tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication to explain technical/product info clearly.
• Prior flooring/home improvement or residential design experience is beneficial but not required.
• Additional education or certifications in design or related fields are a plus.

Role Description

The Design Consultant role at 50 Floor is a full-time remote position focused on guiding customers through flooring selections that suit their homes, lifestyles, and budgets. On a day-to-day basis, the Design Consultant will connect with customers in home, discuss their needs, present product options, and recommend flooring designs and layouts. The role includes preparing quotes, supporting the sales process, and following up with customers to ensure a smooth experience from initial consultation through installation. The Design Consultant will collaborate with internal teams, maintain accurate records of customer interactions, and stay informed about product updates, trends, and best practices in residential design.

Qualifications

• Strong Customer Service skills with a focus on building trust, listening actively, and providing clear, supportive guidance.
• Proven Sales abilities, including consultative selling, handling objections, and closing sales in an in-home environment.
• Experience or training in Interior Design, with the ability to coordinate colors, textures, and styles to create cohesive spaces.
• Knowledge of Furniture and Furnishings to help customers understand how flooring decisions interact with existing décor.
• Comfort working remotely, with reliable internet access, effective time management, and proficiency in basic digital tools and CRM systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain technical or product information in accessible terms.
• Prior experience in flooring, home improvement, or residential design is beneficial but not required.
• Any additional education or certifications in design, sales, or related fields are a plus.
