Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking an experienced Design Build Manager throughout the United States to join our team. This key role involves overseeing the design-build process for rail and heavy civil projects, ensuring seamless integration of design and construction activities. As the Design Build Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with clients and stakeholders, and drive projects to successful completion while upholding Herzog's standards of excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design-build or CMGC/CMAR process, from concept development to project completion, ensuring alignment with project goals, client expectations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, estimators, and construction personnel, to develop innovative and efficient solutions for rail and heavy civil projects.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes while maintaining Herzog's commitment to safety and quality.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project success.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the design and construction phases, addressing challenges and making informed decisions to meet project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot constructability issues in the design phase to manage financial and performance risks of the project.
  • Oversee the development and review of design documents, drawings, specifications, and other project-related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in rail and heavy civil construction.
  • Lead value engineering efforts to optimize project outcomes in terms of cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Regularly report project status, progress, and challenges to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in rail and heavy civil design-build projects, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of rail and heavy civil engineering principles, design standards, and construction methods.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex design-build, design-bid-build, and CMAR projects, from inception to completion.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse, multi-organizational teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software, design tools, and relevant software applications.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the country.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
