Job description

Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client for a senior architect who’s ready to transition from the chaotic cycle of chasing deadlines to deep, meaningful work on one transformational project.

The Reality Check

Most architecture roles promise “exciting projects” but deliver:

  • Constant project hopping with no closure
  • Design work that never sees construction
  • Junior staff doing CA while you’re stuck in meetings

This role is different.

What You’re Actually Getting

A 3-year engagement (not a gamble, actual timeline) on a healthcare facility that’s already funded, designed, and breaking ground. You’ll focus almost entirely on construction administration – the phase where architects actually see their work built.

You’ll work from the construction trailer starting mid-2026. Not occasionally. Daily. You’ll have decision-making authority on RFIs, shop drawings, and field conditions. Your Revit skills won’t gather dust – you’ll use them daily for coordination and documentation.

The Setup

Our client is partnering with a top-tier global design firm (think Am Law 100 equivalent for architecture). You get resources from both companies – dual email, dual software access, dual support systems – while your paycheck and benefits come from one stable employer.

You’ll work alongside another architect relocating to Albany specifically for this project, plus weekly support from the partner firm’s NYC team. Translation: you’re not alone in a trailer hoping someone remembers you exist.

What Your Days Look Like
  • Review shop drawings and submittals (the real work, not busywork)
  • Resolve RFIs with actual authority to make decisions
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and state agencies on-site
  • Document field conditions and manage change orders in Revit
  • Attend OAC meetings where your input shapes outcomes
  • Watch a complex healthcare facility go vertical based on your oversight
What You Need
  • 5 years doing actual architecture work (not just managing teams)
  • Revit proficiency that goes beyond placing families
  • Interior Design Experience
  • Construction administration experience on projects over $50M
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range based on experience, comprehensive benefits starting Day 1, annual performance bonuses, professional development support (AIA dues, license renewals, continuing ed), 401(k) with employer match, 4 weeks PTO.

The Trade-Offs (Because Honesty Matters)
  • Manhattan location is non-negotiable (3 days a week in office)
  • Construction trailer work isn’t glamorous
  • This is hand-on technical work, not strategic leadership
If This Sounds Right

You’re tired of PowerPoint architecture. You miss seeing projects built. You want stability without sacrificing meaningful work. You’re comfortable making technical decisions independently.
