• Perform calculations related to stress, strain and stiffness; define tests to demonstrate design meets requirements.
• Design a product solution and prepare data for new product reviews; lead engineering reviews.
• Provide customers with reports detailing product selection for their application.
• Ensure manufacturability and cost‑effective production; consider tolerances and design implications.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

About The Role

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing anti‑vibration solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring technical excellence and product performance. You will identify and recommend the most suitable products from the existing portfolio, create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and provide expert technical guidance to customers on product selection and application. The role also involves developing and executing validation test programmes to demonstrate product suitability for specific applications, documenting results, and supporting continuous product improvement. In addition, you will mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting engineering best practices and contributing to the overall technical capability of the team.

Key Responsibilities

All team members are responsible for demonstrating commitment with respect to the management system, by contributing to the effective implementation, operation and control of its processes.

• Enquiries: The Engineer will be tasked with receiving enquiries from existing and prospective customers, fully understanding the detailed needs of the client through careful consultation with relevant people in their organisation.
• Customer Liaison: The Engineer continues to work closely with customers through the initial specification phase, product design freeze and approval phase; some business travel may be required.
• Concept Proposals: Create a concept proposal, including appropriate technical specification and costs, assessing feasibility of manufacturing the product.
• Performance Criteria: Perform appropriate technical calculations relating to stress, strain and stiffness, define tests to demonstrate design meets customer technical requirements.
• Design Solution: Design a product solution that meets customer expectations, draw from experience of similar applications, manual calculations or computer programmes; raise appropriate data for a new product and chair engineering review meetings.
• Application Engineering: Provide customers with reports detailing product selection for their application.
• Design for Cost Effective Manufacture: Ensure product can be manufactured timely and cost‑effectively, understanding manufacturability implications of tolerances and detailed design solution.
• Customer Focus: Provide highest level of customer service, answering all enquiries promptly.
• Guidance and Teaching: Assist all department members and share knowledge; advise on best design principles.

What You Bring

• A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within the anti‑vibration products industry
• Degree qualified in Mechanical or Polymer Engineering
• Ability to design and communicate information on complex engineering drawings, with a sound grasp of product design; 3D CAD knowledge is essential
• Ability to demonstrate product design experience and understand the design process
• A high level of attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and previous experience liaising with customers professionally
• Experience applying analytical approaches to design solutions
• Familiar with Microsoft programs
