Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Illinois is seeking participants for the Design Accelerator Program (DAP), a full-time, paid rotational development program across design, manufacturing, operations, sales, and customer engagement to build future packaging design leaders.

Over about 12 months, participants gain structured experience, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute on real projects, with potential transition to a Designer role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a packaging, design, engineering or related field.
• Internship or project experience in packaging, manufacturing or product development.
• Familiarity with CAD and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging design projects from concept through production.
• Develop prototypes, mockups, and production-ready solutions.
• Learn how packaging designs are manufactured and implemented.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to solve challenges.
• Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and innovation projects.
• Present ideas and project updates to leaders and customers.
• Build knowledge of corrugated packaging, sustainability, and processes.
• Demonstrate initiative and accountability through rotations.
• Engage in mentoring and networking opportunities to grow professionally.
