Job summary

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Aqueduct Pump Specialist (Millwright/Industrial Mechanic) for Gene Camp, Parker Dam, CA. The role combines troubleshooting, maintenance, and mechanical problem solving to ensure reliable pumping plant performance.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least five years of journey-level maintenance experience in pump plants or similar facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years journey-level mechanical maintenance experience in pump plants or related facilities.
• Specialized experience in aqueduct infrastructure and pump plant systems.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical equipment including large pumps, motors, compressors, and related systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Work hands-on with control systems, cranes, gates, penstocks, valves, and reservoir infrastructure.
• Apply journey-level expertise to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues.
• Provide training and technical direction to onsite apprentices and maintenance technicians.
