Job summary
Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Aqueduct Pump Specialist (Millwright/Industrial Mechanic) to join the Pump Maintenance Team at Gene Camp, Parker Dam, CA. You will perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of large pumping and related equipment to keep Desert Region facilities reliable.
The role requires journey-level expertise, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to train onsite apprentices and technicians.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years journey-level mechanical maintenance experience in a pump plant, treatment plant, hydroelectric or conveyance facility.
- Specialized experience in operation, maintenance and repair of aqueduct infrastructure and related systems.
- Ability to diagnose using predictive and diagnostic techniques and to perform preventive/corrective maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and install large pumps, motors, compressors, valves and related equipment.
- Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Work hands-on with control systems and heavy industrial equipment including cranes and gates.
- Provide training and direction to onsite apprentices and technicians.
