Job summary

West Monroe seeks a Senior Principal to lead the DERMS capability within the Energy & Utilities practice. You will work with utility executives to shape strategy, architecture, and full-scale DERMS transformations, driving outcomes in interconnection, DER orchestration, and market growth.

You will lead programs across strategy, design, and delivery, mentor teams, and help expand West Monroe’s DERMS offerings with a client-focused, results-driven approach.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in energy & utilities or related leadership roles.
• 5+ years in consulting with delivery and/or commercial focus.
• Deep DERMS, DER, and VPP experience (3–5+ years preferred).
• Experience leading DERMS strategy, vendor selection, and implementation.
• Strong understanding of distribution operations and grid planning.
• Experience with IT/OT ecosystems and system integrations.
• Ability to shape, sell, and deliver complex engagements.
• Experience leading multi-phase programs and senior stakeholder communication.
• Experience integrating AI into workflows and evaluating outputs.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end DERMS engagements from strategy to implementation.
• Define DERMS reference architectures and integration patterns.
• Advise on IT/OT integration across utility systems (CIS, MDMS, GIS, SCADA).
• Shape business development, pricing, and deal strategy for DERMS.
• Grow the DERMS practice and executive client relationships.
