Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in New Orleans seeks a Dermatology Veterinary Technician to support a busy dermatology service, including allergy testing and cytology, with emphasis on client education and teamwork. The ideal candidate is a State Registered Veterinary Technician with veterinary clinic experience, especially in dermatology, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; dermatology experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drug dosages, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments: histories, medical records, invoicing, patient discharges.
• Perform intradermal and serum allergy testing on dogs and cats.
• Assist with IV catheter placement, venipuncture, biopsies, ear cytology and skin testing.
• Assist with deep ear flushes using video-otoscopy.
• Learn about and utilize therapeutic diets for allergic disease.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation.
