Job summary

The University of California, San Diego's Department of Dermatology seeks accomplished Scientists or Physician-Scientists at the Associate or Full Professor level to advance knowledge in dermatology through basic research in cutaneous biology.

Candidates will join a productive group with research programs across immunology, microbiology, developmental biology, or cancer biology in the skin, with teaching, research, and potential clinical duties, and must build an extramurally funded program.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD with a strong record in dermatology-related research.
• Eligible for California medical license; board-certified/eligible in Dermatology.
• At least 8 published research articles.
• Experience running a lab and mentoring 4–6 junior researchers.
• Preferred background in immunology, microbiology, developmental or cancer biology of the skin.

Responsibilities

• Teach, perform research, and participate in university service.
• Possibly provide clinical duties in outpatient/inpatient dermatology based on training.
• Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program.
• Provide leadership within the department and university.
• Pursue and secure regional and national research funding.
