ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Recordspatient’scurrent status, past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation in preparation for provider visit inthe Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Respects the confidentiality of patient records and uses complete discretion when discussing patient informationin accordancewithHIPAA.
  • Utilizes all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately.
  • Collects, labels,and transportsall specimens appropriately.
  • Demonstrates proper techniques whenpreparingforprocedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge ofemergenciesand routine equipment and procedures.
  • Collaborates with patient care planning, including activelyparticipatingin education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
  • Assistsproviders with special tests and procedures.
  • Demonstratesanability to start IVs andmonitorIV fluids forthecorrect rate.
  • Abilityto assess every patient for safety,medicationdosage appropriateness,and other needs.
  • Accurately administers medication, performs treatmentin accordancewithstandards of care. Translates medications into pediatric doses andusesproper equipment forthepatient’s size and age.
  • Abilitytoidentifyvictims and the process for reporting abuse.
  • Maintains compliance withinthe department andclinic, as well as withinstate and federal regulations and policies.
  • Utilizes proper phone etiquette to record all phone interactions with patients in the EMR.
  • Properly caresfor instruments,i.e.,cleaning, packaging,andsterilizing asappropriate.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings.
  • Follows MRH policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness andparticipatesin drills.
  • Acts as a resource person to other staff members.
  • Acts as a positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
  • Participates in process improvement teams or in interdepartmental efforts.
  • Actsas a liaison between patients, families, providers,and staff.
  • Completesworkload as assigned.
  • Floats to other clinical departments as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements,maintainingadherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
  • Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures tomaintaina safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE(S), AND CERTIFICATION(S)
Required
Preferred

Currentand activeColorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (orbe obtainedwithinninety (90)days of hire).

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, BusinessAdministrationor related field.
