Job summary

Optima Dermatology in Scarborough, ME is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (full-time or part-time) to join our dermatology and aesthetics team. The role includes room preparation, patient vitals, assisting physicians, and coordinating tests and referrals.

Responsibilities include charting, specimen prep, pre-certifications, inventory, and maintaining a clean, confidential environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to take patient vitals and injections.
• Strong charting and documentation skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Team-oriented with good communication.
• Experience in dermatology office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and stock supplies between patients.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vital signs and visit reason.
• Assist physicians with minor procedures (e.g., sutures, wart/mole removal).
• Prepare specimens for outside lab and track results.
• Schedule on-site and off-site tests and coordinate referrals.
• Coordinate communications with physicians, labs, and pharmacies.
• Handle pre-certifications and referrals with insurance providers.
• Maintain inventory and reorder supplies as needed.
• Disinfect rooms and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Support confidentiality and safety in all interactions.
