Job description

Ganger Dermatology is an independent practice across three Michigan locations with more than 70 people. We're busy, we move quickly, and we care a great deal about getting patients seen well and on time.

Dermatology Medical Assistant & Scribe — Full Time

Ganger Dermatology · Ann Arbor and Wixom, MI

You'll spend your day standing beside a dermatologist. Rooming patients, setting up and assisting with biopsies and excisions, handling and labeling specimens, and documenting the visit in real time as it happens.

It is fast, physical, and hands-on from the first hour. Within a year you will read skin — and the workflow of a busy clinic — in a way that very few people outside this specialty ever do.

What The Day Actually Looks Like

You'll room and prepare patients, take histories, and set up trays for procedures. You'll assist during biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and Mohs support — passing instruments, managing specimens, keeping the field sterile. You'll scribe as the provider works, so the note is finished when the visit is. Between patients you'll turn over rooms, chase pathology results, and handle prior authorizations.

Shifts run about 10 hours, 4 to 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays and evenings.

This Is A Good Fit If
  • You are genuinely unbothered by blood, needles, biopsies, and specimens. This is most of the job, not an occasional part of it.
  • You can type quickly and accurately while listening to someone else talk. Scribing is a real skill and it's the part most people underestimate.
  • You would rather be on your feet and busy than sitting still.
  • You notice details. Mislabeling a specimen is the kind of error that matters here.
  • You can travel between our Ann Arbor and Wixom locations.
This Is The Wrong Job If
  • You need a student, summer-only, or part-time schedule. We can't build clinic coverage around a class timetable, and we'd rather say so now than three weeks in.
  • You want a predictable desk job. This one is neither.
  • You're looking for something short-term to fill a gap. We invest heavily in training and ask for at least a year.
  • You need to work from a single location only.

Many of our team are pre-PA or pre-med, and this is genuinely excellent preparation for either. We're glad to be part of that path — we just ask you can commit to a full year of full-time weekday availability first.

What You Don't Need

You do not need previous dermatology experience. You do not need a college degree. Some of our strongest MAs came from retail, food service, veterinary clinics, or caregiving, and learned this specialty here.

You do need a high school diploma or GED, reliable transportation, and the availability described above.

What We'll Teach You
  • Certified Dermatology Technician (CDT) certification — we pay for it.
  • Procedure assisting, specimen handling, and sterile technique.
  • Clinical documentation and EHR fluency.
  • The common things we see, so you recognize them when they are in front of you.
  • Pay range is $15-$20 depending on proven experience and skillset
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and a paid on-site lunch break every shift
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Paid CDT certification
  • Quarterly team appreciation days

How Hiring Works Here
  • A short written interview — a few questions, answered on your own time.
  • A shadow shift, so you can see the job before deciding.
  • Offer.

The shadow shift is deliberate. We'd rather you find out this isn't for you on day one than after you've left another job for us.
