Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our dermatology team. The role supports physicians with patient care, prepares exam rooms, documents visits, and assists with procedures in a fast-paced clinic.

You will verify patient information, enter data into the EHR, escort patients, manage lab specimens, and assist with prescriptions and tests, ensuring a smooth patient journey and compliance with HIPAA and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in medical office
• Familiarity with HIPAA rules
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred)
• Self-motivated to achieve high patient care and customer service standards

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit
• Enter medical history and visit information into EHR
• Escort patients to exam room
• Ask pertinent medical questions and data entry into EHR
• Prepare patient for exam by providing drapes and materials
• Taking photographs
• Assisting physician during medical examination and procedures
• Phone in prescriptions to various pharmacies
• Schedule medical procedures
• Instruct patients on proper usage of medications
• Change wound dressings, remove sutures, and in-office phlebotomy
• Collect, log and package lab specimens for transport
• Sterilize medical instruments
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
• Complete phone triage
• Notify patients of pathology and lab results
• Scribe office visits
• Administer IM, SQ, and topical medications as ordered
• Perform and document nurse visit appointments including suture removals, UVB, Excimer, Patch Testing, and Biologic injections
