Job summary

Anne Arundel Dermatology seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians in a dermatology outpatient clinic in Knoxville, TN. You will room patients, record vitals, prepare supplies, and assist with procedures, while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

The role requires prior medical office experience; Dermatology exposure is a plus. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with flexibility to travel to nearby locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a medical or clinical setting preferred; Dermatology experience is a plus.
• Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems preferred.
• Comfortable supporting both general medical and procedural patient care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to patient experience.
• Flexibility to travel to nearby practice locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document intake information in the EMR.
• Coordinate patient flow and support efficient clinic operations.
• Prepare procedure trays, instruments, and equipment and assist providers with dermatology procedures.
• Prepare and route pathology/lab specimens according to insurance requirements.
• Respond to patient questions and nurse line messages.
• Clean, sterilize, maintain, and inventory clinical equipment.
• Maintain medication and supply inventory and restock clinical areas.
• Support infection control standards and organized spaces.
• Document patient information and scribe provider notes in the EMR.
• Assist with administration of local anesthetic.
• Handle phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental communications.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
