Job summary

Optima Dermatology seeks an experienced full-time Medical Assistant to join our multi-site dermatology and aesthetics group in Mentor, OH and Independence, OH. The role involves room preparation, vital signs, patient prep, and assisting with minor procedures.

The candidate should have a licensed medical assistant credential (or nursing degree) and dermatology experience, with familiarity using EMA/Modernizing Medicine EMR. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

Licensed medical assistant or nursing degree.
Minimum 1 year dermatology office experience preferred.
Experience with EMA Modernizing Medicine EMR preferred.
Strong communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to work in a team and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Prepare exam rooms and stock supplies; prep procedure trays.
Escort patients, take vitals, interview, record visit details, and instruct prep.
Assist physicians with minor procedures (sutures, wart/mole removal).
Prepare specimens for outside labs and submit results.
Schedule tests/procedures and provide prep instructions; track results.
Facilitate referrals and coordinate with other offices; relay results.
Contact hospitals/pharmacies regarding results, prescriptions, and order follow-ups; communicate physician recommendations.
Pre-certify medications and referrals; document and track referrals.
Take inventory of medications; check expirations; order replenishments.
Disinfect rooms and maintain reception area; ensure safety and confidentiality.
Communicate with physician and office manager on vital issues to improve practice.
