Job summary

PhyNet Dermatology LLC in Baton Rouge seeks a Medical Assistant to support dermatology physicians by delivering high-quality patient care. You will room patients, update histories, document visit details, and assist with dermatologic procedures such as biopsies, surgeries, and skin treatments.

The role requires up to 40 patients per day, accurate charting, preparation for procedures, sterile technique, scribing, prescription processing, and occasional travel to all locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain accurate patient records.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be willing to travel to all locations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team to manage an average patient volume of up to 40 patients daily.
• Document patient histories, including HPI, medical/surgical and family history, medications and allergies.
• Prepare and assist with dermatological and cosmetic procedures (biopsies, ILK, I&D, Botox, lasers, excisions, etc.).
• Administer local anesthesia and remove sutures as directed.
• Ensure sterile techniques and infection control practices.
• Perform scribing responsibilities, including inputting templates and chart notes as directed by physicians.
• Process prescription refills and manage prior authorizations.
• Log pathology samples and coordinate with laboratories.
• Operate equipment such as Narrowband UVB and photodynamic therapy units.
• Maintain and replenish liquid nitrogen containers.
• Clean and stock examination rooms and supply areas.
• Adhere to organizational infection control protocols.
• Maintain reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physician or department lead.
