Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical and procedural patient care under supervision. Responsibilities include preparing patients, documenting medical histories in the EHR, assisting physicians during exams, and coordinating prescriptions and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, prior medical office experience, familiarity with HIPAA, and EMR knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to learn related center tasks and assist management and physicians.
• Self-motivated to achieve high patient care and customer service standards.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
• Familiarity with the ModMed EMA EMR (preferred).
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
• Enter medical history and visit information into EHR.
• Escort patients to exam room.
• Prepare patient for exam by providing drapes and materials.
• Taking photographs and assisting physician during examinations.
• Phone in prescriptions to pharmacies and schedule procedures.
• Instruct patients on proper medication usage and change wound dressings as needed.
• Maintain sterile instruments and inventory supplies for the center.
• May travel to Green office as needed (infrequently).
