Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant certificate program.
• Completion of a Medical Scribe training program (if required by the department).
• 3+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• BCLS certification is required (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure quality patient care.
• Coordinates daily activities of the physician team staff to maintain efficient operations.
• Assists with patient flow, rooming, taking vital signs, prep for exams and procedures, and post-procedure tasks.
• Handles clerical duties such as medical records, lab/x-ray reports and referrals; may use EMR systems.
• Enters orders in EMR or processes prescription refill requests for physician review.
• May perform medical scribe duties as directed by supervising physician.
• Manage inventory and restock medical supplies; support sterilization and room setup.
• Maintain proper PPE and infection control practices and safety protocols.
• Assist with scheduling or bookings for surgeries/procedures as needed.
• May perform phlebotomy duties and verify insurance information or pre-certifications.
• Provide training and mentoring to Level I MA staff; assist in staffing and workflow planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
