Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Dermatology Sibley in the District of Columbia seeks a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory clinics with direct patient care and clinic operations. Duties include rooming patients, documenting in EPIC, preparing for procedures, managing supplies, and ensuring patient safety.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma and MA certification; CPR certification is required. Dermatology clinic experience is preferred and clinical responsibilities may be shared

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • MA certification/registration (CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP).
  • Must become certified/registered within 180 days of hire.
  • Current CPR certification by AHA or ARC.
  • Maintain MA and CPR certification during employment.
  • Education/experience may substitute per JHU policy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patient to exam room.
  • Screen patient prior to doctor’s exam and document in EPIC.
  • Prepare for patient procedures.
  • Explain processes to patient.
  • Maintain inventory and supply ordering.
  • Monitor clinic flow.
  • Stock exam rooms.
  • Identify information/resources needed related to clinical situation.
  • Organize and summarize information.
  • Monitor vital signs using various equipment.
  • Identify signs of changing patient care and notify appropriate person.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and guide others in clinical area.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to ensure safety and quality.
  • Under Clinic Manager, take appropriate clinical actions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Prioritize daily tasks independently.
  • Follow policies and procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
