Position Overview

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice in a role that blends hands‑on clinical support with patient coordination. This position requires strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent patient care in a fast‑paced clinical setting. This role is also a strong fit for a gap‑year pre‑medical student seeking meaningful clinical exposure, and is best suited for someone who is reliable, personable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities with efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Prepare treatment rooms to clinic standards, ensuring proper equipment setup, supply organization and cleanliness.
  • Assist during consultations and medical, surgical and cosmetic procedures
  • Execute clinical tasks including vital signs assessment, intake histories, and examination preparation
  • Perform phlebotomy with precision and patient comfort
  • Maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to strict sterilization protocols
  • Coordinate specimen handling and laboratory processing with close attention to accuracy
  • Administer post-procedure care instructions and address patient questions or concerns, escalating to the dermatologist as needed
  • Scribe clinical encounter information in the electronic medical record system accurately and efficiently using an iPad and/or desktop computer
  • Communicate laboratory and biopsy results to patients with professionalism and clarity
  • Complete prescription prior authorizations
  • Coordinate with pharmacies, laboratories, vendors and referring physician offices
Patient Experience Duties
  • Welcome patients with warmth and professionalism, establishing a comfortable, welcoming environment
  • Manage patient check‑in procedures, verify information accuracy, and obtain necessary documentation
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and managing rescheduling/cancellations
  • Coordinate appointments for medical and cosmetic services, ensuring optimal scheduling for the dermatologist and patients
  • Process payments for services, procedures and products, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Discuss and explain treatment plans, pricing and follow up appointments with clarity
General Duties
  • Provide exceptional patient service, reflecting the values of the practice
  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Assist with administrative projects such as inventory management and patient communications
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum one year of clinical experience (medical assistant or comparable clinical role)
  • Demonstrated competency with electronic medical record systems
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal skills
Preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy
  • Experience in dermatology or plastic surgery practices
  • Familiarity with front office operations and patient coordination
