Job summary

Seeker Dermatology in Austin, TX is seeking a Dermatology Medical Assistant to support clinical staff with patient care, pre/post encounter tasks, and scheduling.

You will assist with cosmetic dermatology procedures, maintain clean treatment areas, manage patient records and labs, and communicate clearly with patients and families. A high school diploma and experience with EHRs are preferred; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; some college is a plus.
• Experience with EHR systems preferred; EMA knowledge is a plus.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dermatology medical tasks and patient communication helpful.
• CPR certification preferred; CMA certification preferred.
• Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with transfers, dressings, and specimen collection.
• Collect patient history and perform screenings per provider instructions.
• Assist with cosmetic dermatology procedures, including injections, biopsies, and laser/cryotherapy.
• Keep treatment areas safe, organized, and stocked; prepare rooms for next exam.
• Provide information and instructions to patients and families.
• Assist with scheduling and manage patient charts and records.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and referral information.
• Respond to emergency codes as needed and participate in quality control.
• Support clinic operations and ensure high-quality patient care.

Position: Dermatology Medical Assistant

Report To: Team Lead

Purpose:

Responsible for assisting dermatology clinical staff with patient care and a variety of pre, intra and post encounter activities. Meet and exceed patient expectations and adhere to established practices while assuring the best possible care for patients.

Responsibilities:

• Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam.
• Collect patient medical history and perform screenings per provider instructions.
• Assist clinical staff with cosmetic dermatology procedures, including Botox, fillers and PRP, biopsies, and surgical procedures such as excisions, ED&C, cryotherapy, laser surgery, etc.
• Ensures treatment areas are safe, organized, clean, have well-functioning equipment, and supplies are adequate. Prepare treatment room for next exam.
• Provides information / instructions to patients and their families.
• Answer calls and assist in Physician/Patient scheduling.
• Send / receive patient medical records and information.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
• Complete forms and requisitions as needed as well as manage patient charts to ensure information is complete.
• Respond appropriately to emergency codes.
• Perform quality control.
• Promote quality patient care and customer satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education, & Experience:

• High School diploma or GED is required, prefer some college.
• Prior EHR experience preferred; working knowledge of EMA is a plus.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Prefer knowledge in dermatology medical specialty, associated medical tasks, and information that is communicated to patients and families.
• Maintain a CPR certification, prefer CMA certificate.
• Excellent communications skills: Bilingual is a plus.
