Job summary

Columbus Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery (CAPS) is seeking a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Dermatology team. The role supports physicians with patient care, including biopsies and dressings, while ensuring patient comfort and clear communication throughout visits.

The ideal candidate has derm experience, Ohio LPN license or MA certification (CMA/RMA/NCMA), and strong patient education and interpersonal skills. Full-time on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse in a Dermatology setting.
• LPN candidates must hold a current, active LPN license in the State of Ohio.
• MA candidates: Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred.
• Comfortable assisting with dermatologic procedures, including biopsies and excisions.
• Passionate about skin health, preventative care, and patient education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable with a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

• Open and close exam and treatment rooms, preparing spaces per physician preferences.
• Assist with insurance preauthorizations and communicate updates to patients.
• Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vitals and histories, and update medication lists.
• Set up exam rooms for dermatologic procedures and anticipate physician needs.
• Assist physicians with biopsies, excisions, and other dermatologic procedures.
• Schedule procedures and prepare required insurance authorizations.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and medication use.
