Job summary

The Dermatology Specialists, New York City's largest dermatology practice, is seeking a Lab Aide to support daily laboratory operations across multiple sites. This role involves handling biopsy specimens, maintaining a clean lab environment, and assisting technicians and pathologists while adhering to HIPAA and safety standards.

The position requires weekend availability and a schedule between 09:00 and 19:00, with potential site-based start/end times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Previous experience in a lab, clinical, or healthcare setting, scribing experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with medical/lab software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving, labeling, and organizing biopsy specimens.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including disinfection of surfaces and equipment.
• Support lab technicians in slide preparation and specimen routing.
• Prepare basic reagents and solutions under supervision.
• Log and track samples in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Handle general clerical tasks (e.g., filing, inventory tracking).
• Ensure compliance with safety and HIPAA regulations.
