Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a Dermatologist with Mohs Surgery expertise to launch a brand-new Dermatology & Mohs service line in Mattoon, Illinois. You will lead clinical autonomy, design workflows, and build the program with the backing of a large health system.

Eligibility includes an MD/DO, completed Dermatology residency, Illinois license, and Mohs proficiency. The role offers a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, CME allowance, and comprehensive malpractice coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO).
• Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Dermatology residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology.
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure).
• Active DEA registration and Illinois CSR.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational setup, clinical workflow design, and strategic rollout of a brand-new Dermatology and Mohs Surgery service line.
• Provide outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical management for skin cancers and dermatologic conditions.
• Perform Mohs micrographic surgeries and related histopathology interpretations and reconstructions.
• Establish clinical protocols, procure equipment, and guide clinic layout design.
• Develop a referral network with regional physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Maintain a patient-centered care environment with high quality and safety standards.

Location: Mattoon, Illinois | Schedule: Full-Time, Permanent, Outpatient, Flexible Monday - Friday Schedule | Compensation: $100,000 sign-on bonus, up to $15,000 relocation assistance, $6,000 annual CME allowance

Overview

An established, physician-led healthcare organization in Central Illinois is seeking a Dermatologist with Mohs Surgery expertise to launch and build a brand-new Dermatology & Mohs service line from the ground up. This role offers complete clinical autonomy to design, develop, and grow a premier dermatology practice backed by strong health system support, serving Mattoon and the surrounding regional community with significant unmet demand for general medical dermatology, skin cancer screenings, surgical excision, and Mohs micrographic procedures.

What you'll do

• Lead the operational setup, clinical workflow design, and strategic rollout of a brand-new, comprehensive Dermatology and Mohs Surgery service line
• Provide expert outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical management for skin cancers (BCC, SCC, melanoma) and complex medical dermatological conditions
• Perform Mohs micrographic surgeries, histopathologic tissue interpretations, and reconstructive procedures upon establishing operational facility capabilities
• Serve as the founding clinical authority in establishing clinical protocols, purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, and guiding clinic layout design
• Establish a strong referral pipeline by collaborating with regional primary care physicians, general surgeons, oncologists, and advanced practice providers
• Foster a patient-centered care environment while maintaining high clinical quality and safety standards

Required qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO)
• Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Dermatology residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Dermatology
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure)
• Active DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (CSR)
• Demonstrated clinical leadership ability, vision, and enthusiasm for establishing a new service line from the ground up

Preferred qualifications

• Fellowship training or documented proficiency in Mohs Surgery is strongly preferred
