Job summary

Jefferson Health seeks individuals for Deputy Sheriff Trainee roles as part of a Colorado POST-certified training track. Positions are assigned to the Jefferson County Patrol or Detention Division after training, with an internal selection process for patrol assignments.

New hires receive $33.74/hour during the academy, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus upon successful completion of the 2027-1 POST academy. Academy starts in April 2027 and includes rigorous exams and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must provide information for background investigation; polygraph exam, criminal history check, medical and psychological exam required.
• Must have valid Colorado driver's license by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Obtains a general knowledge of modern law enforcement practices, procedures and investigation techniques.
• Develops skill in the use of firearms and other law enforcement equipment.
• Present court testimony effectively and exercise sound judgment in emergencies.

Education

Sixty semester or ninety quarter hours from an accredited college/university preferred
