Job summary

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Colorado is seeking applicants for a Deputy Sheriff Trainee position. This role is available only during POST certification training or the initial field training program, with duties transitioning to Deputy Sheriff after training.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who complete the 2027-1 POST academy. The academy starts early April 2027, pays $33.74 per hour, and schedules 40 hours per week; benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement

Qualifications

• Sixty semester or ninety quarter hours from an accredited college/university preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age; background investigation; polygraph; medical and psychological exams required; valid Colorado driver's license by hire date.

Responsibilities

• Obtain general knowledge of laws, procedures and criminal investigation.
• Develop ability to apply interpretation of laws to specific situations.
• Present court testimony effectively; exercise sound judgment in emergencies.
• Perform other related work as required.

60 sem hrs / 90 quarter hrs (preferred)
