Job summary

Lane County Sheriff's Office seeks a Deputy Sheriff to perform correctional work, enforce laws, and transport inmates. The role may include resident deputy duties in a patrol district and related assignments across a broad geographic area.

Applicants must meet Oregon licensing requirements, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass a series of tests and background checks per the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Two years of experience dealing with the public.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
• Possession of a current Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment.
• Possession of a basic certification in corrections and as a peace officer with the State of Oregon at the time of appointment or the ability to successfully apply for such certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs correctional work in the care, custody, and transportation of inmates in and out of the correctional facility; enforces laws and ordinances; investigates complaints and conducts investigations; may provide such law enforcement services as a resident deputy in a patrol district of the County; does related work as required.
• Deputies provide patrol of urban, suburban and rural areas, including timberlands, waterways, and coastal dune areas; police service includes criminal investigation, court security, prisoner transport, process services (criminal and civil).
