Job summary

Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office is inviting eligible deputies to apply for the Deputy Sheriff I/II lateral transfer program. The position supports experienced peace officers seeking transfer from another public agency within California and requires current employment with a governmental organization at the time of conditional offer.

Candidates must have completed a POST-certified academy and meet all minimum qualifications, including a valid CA driver license and the age requirement.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED.
• Physical/manipulative abilities required by the department.
• Mental/cognitive abilities required by the department.
• Possess First Aid and CPR Certificate within six months of appointment.
• Possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
• Not less than 21 years of age at time of appointment.
• Meet minimum standards for peace officers under Government Code 1031.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas for protection of life and property.
• Serve legal papers such as subpoenas, summons, and writs.
• Collect fees due the County.
• Serve warrants and make arrests.
• Prepare reports and keep routine records.
• Interrogate persons suspected of crimes.
• Transport prisoners.
• Appear in court as a witness or arresting officer.
