Job summary

Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office seeks qualified law enforcement officers to patrol county areas, respond to calls, enforce traffic laws and reduce crime. You will conduct roving patrols, interviews, arrests and assist investigators as needed.

The role requires completion of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and an active U.S. police certification, with duties including court appearances, transporting prisoners and maintaining public safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required and NM Law Enforcement Academy certification.
• Must possess valid US citizenship and current LEO certification.
• Must pass background checks and physical screening.

Responsibilities

• Patrols county areas and roads to provide immediate response to calls and deter crime; enforce traffic safety.
• Conduct roving and targeted patrols to prevent entry crimes, trespass and vandalism; assist in neighborhood watch training.
• Perform field interviews, interrogations and arrests as needed; assist investigators at major crime scenes.
• Attend training to maintain law enforcement certification; may function as field training officer.
• Appear in court to testify and serve civil/criminal paperwork; transport prisoners as required.
