Job summary

Napa County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Deputy Sheriff I to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work, patrol assigned areas, and conduct investigations. The position requires enrollment in or graduation from a POST-certified academy, with additional pay incentives available for hiring bonuses, loan forgiveness, and bilingual skills.

Applicants must meet POST requirements and may apply while enrolled or after graduation; POST documentation must be provided during background checks.

Qualifications

• Applicants currently attending a California POST approved basic Police academy may apply with proof of current attendance.
• Applicants who have completed a POST certified academy or have POST Certification/Recertification within the last 3 years may apply; submit certificate with application.

Responsibilities

• Maintain law and order by patrolling assigned areas and enforcing state and local laws.
• Conduct investigations of misdemeanor and felony crimes; respond to incidents and calls for service.
• Provide court security and civil process as assigned.
