Clarke County Sheriff's Office in Athens, GA is seeking a Deputy Sheriff / Corporal to protect the community and lead teams across jail, courtrooms, and field operations. You will be a trusted presence, upholding safety and order while meeting POST certification and background requirements.

The role includes 12-hour shifts (7:45 to 7:45), weekends/holidays, and potential for advancement and specialized training. A $6,000 hiring bonus is offered with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current POST certification under Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act.
• GCIC Security & Awareness Training must be completed within 10 days of hire.
• First Aid & CPR Certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Ensure the safety of inmates, coworkers, and the public in the jail or courthouse.
• Respond to emergencies, de-escalate tensions, and act with calm and confidence.
• Supervise up to 72 inmates with fairness and respect.
• Transport prisoners safely between facilities or courtrooms.
• Support judges and court staff with safety and order in high-stakes environments.
