Job summary

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is hiring for the Deputy Sheriff role in Ohio. The position advances through a detailed hiring process including fitness tests, interviews, CVSA, background checks, and academy participation while earning a salary. Non-certified candidates are placed on an eligibility list for the December academy.

Pay scales begin at $35.02 per hour, with increases at 1, 3, and 5 years. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, and training

Qualifications

• Completion of a secondary education or equivalent plus certification from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council.
• Must be able to properly administer first aid / CPR.

Responsibilities

• Preserve the peace and enforce the laws of Ohio.
• Protect lives and property as a sworn Peace Officer of Delaware County.
• Patrols assigned area and responds to calls as dispatched.
• Interrogates suspects and makes arrests; conducts investigations into misdemeanors and felonies.
• Prepares reports and develops probable cause for warrants and court actions.
• Represents the Sheriff's Office in the community and conducts crime prevention activities.
