Job summary

State of Alaska invites applications for Deputy Senate Secretary in Juneau. This fully exempt role provides nonpartisan administrative support to all twenty state senators and their staff, with duties including daily journal preparation, voting board operation, and floor session note-taking.

Position requires high school graduation and the ability to work under high pressure, often with tight deadlines. On-call seven days a week with no overtime pay. Comprehensive benefits package offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
• Ability to work in a high‑pressure environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Proficient MS Word, Excel and Outlook usage in a business setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and finalize the daily Senate Journal
• Prepare and finalize Senate Journal Supplements and Joint Journal Supplements
• Prepare and operate voting board in Senate Chamber
• Take notes during floor session
• Other duties may be assigned
