Job summary

Salt Lake County in Utah is recruiting a Law Enforcement Deputy with no experience required. The academy starts March 1, 2027, and the agency will pay for POST certification training, plus an hourly wage and full benefits during the academy.

Candidates with prior full-time law enforcement experience may receive one year of pay credit for each year of service. The role includes crime suppression, investigations, and service to the community.

Qualifications

• Must be a resident of Utah at time of hire.
• Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
• Must possess a valid Utah Driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must have a passing NPOST score of 70% or higher.

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls for service and assists other officers.
• Suppresses crime through identification and apprehension of criminals.
• Regulates non-criminal conduct such as traffic control.
• Reports to scenes of traffic collisions and investigates causes.
• Maintains reports and evidence for prosecutions; testifies as needed.
• Attends regular training and completes a minimum of 40 hours annual in-service training.
• Performs other related duties as required.
