Job summary

Detroit Defense Inc. in Troy, MI seeks a Deputy Project Manager to support the execution of DoW projects. You will serve as the PM’s right hand, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations are met, and you will drive day-to-day execution.

This role requires leading planning and delivery of embedded software programs, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with engineers, contracts, and finance. Domestic/international travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in an applicable field of study.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in business, finance, sourcing, cross-functional teaming, and/or project management.
  • PMP and/or PMI-ACP Certification (Highly Recommended)
  • GCIA Interface Framework experience (Highly Recommended)
  • FACE Extended Safety Profile environment experience (Highly Recommended)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance, if required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of embedded software projects in compliance with model-based Digital Engineering practices.
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, and risk reporting; communicate program status to upper management and stakeholders via Program Management Reviews and other formal and informal methods.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including status reports, risk registers, and technical requirement specs.
  • Work unplanned program issues to a best solution, including development of plans-forward, escalation and increased resources, as required; resolve conflicts, demands, and priorities on assigned programs.
  • Identifies and coordinates with key level horizontal and vertical stakeholders between program major activities, teams, suppliers and customers; coordinate inputs from support organizations including engineering, contracts, finance, pricing, and others as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of responses to customer opportunities, including white papers, proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates and responses to customer requests for information.
  • Occasionally travel to domestic or international customer sites (15%)

Detroit Defense is seeking a Deputy Project Manager in our Troy, MI office to assist in managing the execution of projects associated with the Department of War (DoW).


This Deputy Project Manager will act as the right-hand to the Project Manager, the Deputy ensures that the project’s scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder expectations are met in accordance with the organization’s governance standards. The role provides continuity of leadership during the Project Manager’s absences, escalates issues promptly, and drives day-to-day execution of project activities.
