Job summary

AECOM seeks a Deputy Environmental Project Manager in Denver, hybrid work arrangement. Lead environmental justice, remediation, and brownfields projects, oversee site investigations, manage budgets, scope, and schedules while guiding staff and coordinating with clients.

Preferred candidates hold PE/Geologist licensure, PMP, and 5+ years' experience in site investigations and business development, with knowledge of CO regulators. Sponsorship and relocation are not offered.

Qualifications

  • US citizen or permanent resident status required.
  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Licensure as PE or Geologist and PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall project scope, budgets, schedules, and relationships.
  • Provide guidance to staff, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Engage clients regarding AECOM capabilities.
  • Mentor staff and oversee project delivery per specs, budget, and schedule.
  • Identify risks and manage resources to maintain profit margins.

Job Description

Deputy Environmental Project Manager – Denver, CO (Hybrid). Responsible for managing environmental justice, remediation, and brownfields projects. Lead site investigations, manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Understands site investigation and remediation techniques to drive solutions for clients.
  • Overall management of projects and establishes project‑specific objectives.
  • Provides management and guidance to AECOM staff, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Engages existing and potential clients regarding AECOM service capabilities.
  • Provides mentorship to staff.
  • Oversees and delivers projects in accordance with specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • May oversee and direct Project Managers with multiple projects.
  • Determines and defines project scope and objectives.
  • Supervises the management of all phases of projects.
  • Predicts resource needs and manages resources effectively.
  • Provides technical oversight and quality control.
  • Provides project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Identifies, mitigates, and manages project risks.
  • Manages more complex clients and projects.
  • Consistently delivers profit margins as planned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field, AND 2 years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
  • Must pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development.
  • Licensed (Professional Engineer or Geologist).
  • Experience working with local and state of Colorado agencies.
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (current).
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.

Compensation

$85,000 to $110,000 per year.
