Job summary

M.C. Dean, headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to learn how to supervise and direct project teams, prepare strategic plans and budgets, and develop a comprehensive project plan.

The role requires a BS in Engineering and at least 5 years of construction experience; Top-Secret clearance is required, with potential SCI access. Travel may be required as projects vary.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with 5+ years of experience; preferred EE or related field.
• Experience with electrical/construction contracting and CPM scheduling.
• Proficiency with design drawings, submittals, RFIs and change orders.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section.
• Identify and resolve change orders; price and track changes.
• Plan and monitor cash flow against expenses.
• Maintain as-builts and document project issues.
• Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
• Develop goals and plans to prioritize and complete work.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Prepare estimates for partially designed projects; finish design.
• Coordinate with owners, contractors, and design professionals.
• Communicate with customers and external stakeholders.
• Ensure timely RFIs and accurate documentation.

The Deputy Project Manager is a training position that consists of learning how to supervise and direct the employees on a particular project, prepare strategic plans and budgets, develop a comprehensive project plan, and analyze statistical data. (Applicant must have a Top-Secret clearance required). Responsibilities * Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project.

• Identify change orders and ensuring effective resolution.
• Price, track and manage change orders.
• Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
• Maintain as-builts as work is completed. Document project issues/conditions.
• Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
• Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize organize, and accomplish your work.
• Read and interpret blue prints and project specifications.
• Research and compile submittals; pricing change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
• Communicate with people outside the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public, and general contractor representatives.
• Clearly understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements. Qualifications Education: * BS in Engineering (Preferred EE or Industry related degree) with 5+ years of experience.

Experience: * Related Construction experience with five years' working for an electrical or construction contractor.

• Experience working on construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
• Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals.
• Experience with CPM Scheduling
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings on projects.
• Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver.
• Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others.
• Proficiency with Computers including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF.

Clearance Required: * Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements including U.S. citizenship for access to classified information. (Applicant must have a Top-Secret clearance required).
Clearance Preferred: * Top-Secret/SCI
Preferred Skill set: * Accubid Estimating (Or equivalent) directly related to Electrical Installations.

• Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling Experience and proficiency (or equivalent).
• Ability and Willingness to Travel to project locations as needed.
