Job Description

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) is seeking a full‑time on‑site/near‑site Deputy Program Manager for the new Aircraft and Spaceflight Systems Engineering Support Services (ASSESS) contract at NASA Ames Research Center. The Deputy Program Manager will serve as the primary interface to Government customers for assigned tasks, provide leadership and management to contractor staff, and report directly to the ASSESS Program Manager while managing a portfolio of activities under contract.

Location: Mountain View, CA

Salary range: $170,000 to $250,000, based on skill level and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with customers and ensure high contractor performance.
  • Lead integrated resource management and coordination.
  • Perform strategic workforce planning including skills vitalization.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff, including performance evaluations and promoting skills development.
  • Promote cross‑cutting technical innovation discussions and forums.
  • Lead overall quality assurance tracking and inform quality approaches, supported by corporate S&MA.
  • Identify technical, schedule, cost, and organizational conflict of interest (OCI) and performance risks and formulate handling strategies.
  • Manage subcontractors and consultants on assigned tasks.
  • Foster, grow and maintain positive relationships with existing and new customers along management and technical interfaces.
  • Support corporate initiatives and process improvement efforts that benefit across multiple contracts.
  • Develop/update contract plans (e.g., S&H, OCI, IT Security, Property Management, DEIA).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering; additional education, training, or certification in management, leadership, or project management preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience leading and/or managing groups of scientists and engineers in a research environment involving sciences or engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience planning and leading complex, multidisciplinary scientific programs, including building and maintaining technical collaborations.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing an organization of twenty (20) or more science, engineering, and/or IT professionals in a contracting environment.
  • Experience supporting NASA programs strongly desired.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Effective management of priorities.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance; Must be a U.S. Citizen due to security clearance requirements.
