Job summary

General Dynamics - IT seeks a Deputy Program Manager to support FDA Scientific Computing in College Park, MD (primary) or Gaithersburg, MD. The role is contingent on contract award with a January 2027 start. Hybrid onsite work is expected to balance operations across HPC, storage, cloud, and AI/ML workloads.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, track performance metrics, and drive readiness for new scientific workloads while maintaining FDA-required documentation and milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Scientific Computing, or related field.
• 10-12+ years of experience in scientific computing, HPC operations, or complex technical environments.
• US Citizenship or Green Card Holder; ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Strong experience coordinating operations across multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC).
• Experience with performance reporting, incident/problem management, dashboards, and operational metrics.
• Ability to communicate effectively with scientists, engineers, and government stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize work based on mission impact and risk.
• Location: Hybrid; onsite reporting in College Park, MD or Gaithersburg, MD several days a week.

• Integrate activities across infrastructure engineering, HPC, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI/ML environments.
• Support readiness for new scientific applications, datasets, instruments, and workloads.

GDIT is seeking Deputy Program Manager to help support an upcoming contract for FDA Scientific Computing in College Park, MD (primary office) or Gaithersburg, MD. PLEASE NOTE: This position is contingent upon contract award, expected to start in January 2027.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

• Coordinate daily scientific computing operations across HPC, storage, scientific workstations, cloud services, scientific applications, and specialized laboratory systems.
• Track availability, performance, capacity, incident trends, and operational risks; produce actionable reporting and dashboards.
• Ensure FDA scientific users receive responsive, mission-aligned support across Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical services.
• Identify recurring issues impacting scientific productivity and work with technical leads to remove blockers.
• Integrate activities across infrastructure engineering, HPC operations, cloud, cybersecurity, scientific endpoint support, and AI/ML environments.
• Support readiness for new scientific applications, datasets, instruments, and computational workloads.
• Maintain documentation, operational processes, and quality standards required by FDA.
• Contribute to operational components of program planning, schedule management, risk tracking, and stakeholder communications.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED - REQUIRED

• Citizenship: US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Scientific Computing, or related field
• Years Experience: 10-12+ years of experience in scientific computing, HPC operations, or complex technical environments
• Technical Skills: Strong experience coordinating operations across multidisciplinary technical teams
• Must have experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC)
• Experience with performance reporting, incident/problem management, dashboards, and operational metrics
• Ability to communicate effectively with scientists, engineers, and government stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on mission impact and risk
• Location: HYBRID - Employee must be willing to report onsite in College Park, MD (primary office) or Gaithersburg, MD several days a week.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification: PMP, PgMP, ITIL or CSM
• Technical Skills: Experience supporting federal scientific, research, laboratory, or public health environments
• Familiarity with HPC, Linux, Nutanix, cloud platforms, AI/ML workloads, or scientific software ecosystems
