Armed Forces Benefit Association (AFBA) and 5Star Life Insurance Company seek an Executive Vice President to act as deputy to the President, providing strategic leadership and enterprise-wide oversight. The role requires deep life insurance expertise, governance experience, and the ability to coordinate across AFBA and 5Star Life functions to advance organizational priorities.

You will lead cross-functional teams, oversee governance activities, and help communicate policy provisions and service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, finance, association management, public administration, or related field required.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in life insurance, supplemental health, group benefits, or related executive function.
• Experience working with Boards/Executive committees and governance bodies.
• Experience with brokers, employer groups, worksite programs, or member-based insurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and enterprise-wide coordination in support of AFBA and 5Star Life’s priorities.
• Serve as deputy to the President, guiding decision-making and cross-department collaboration.
• Support governance activities with boards, committees, and stakeholders.
• Explain policy provisions, benefit schedules, and claims processes clearly to diverse audiences.
• Coordinate across AFBA and 5Star Life functions to align outcomes with strategic direction.
• Oversee communications, sensitive information handling, and service quality improvements.
