Job summary

Baltimore County Office of the Inspector General seeks a Deputy Inspector General to serve as the principal deputy providing strategic, operational, investigative, and administrative leadership.

The successful candidate will conduct investigations, manage the Office until a new Inspector General is chosen, and communicate findings to executive leadership, County agencies and stakeholders while upholding integrity, independence, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in sensitive matters.
• Strong knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Serve as second-in-command and act on behalf of the Inspector General when authorized.
• Support development of strategic priorities, investigative protocol, policies, and operational goals.
• Lead investigative, analytical, and administrative staff with high standards of quality and documentation.
• Track statistics, identify resources, and formulate budgets.
• Coordinate with oversight partners and law-enforcement agencies as needed.
• Manage case priorities, review plans, and ensure impartial investigations.
