The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enhances the environment and safeguards public health by providing high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing pollution. DEP, the largest municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, employs nearly 6,000 staff and operates a water supply system comprising 19 reservoirs and 3 lakes across a 2,000-square-mile watershed.
The Site Connection Unit, within the Division of Engineering, Connection and Permitting, reviews engineering applications related to site and house connection proposals to ensure compliance with the latest rules and regulations, and assesses potential impacts on NYC DEP and sewer systems. This unit ensures all reviews and approvals adhere to DEP standards and are completed within established schedules.
The Engineer in Charge supervises 8-10 staff, including mechanical and civil engineers and technicians. Responsibilities include:

Substitutions include a master's degree in civil engineering for one year of experience. To qualify for higher assignment levels, candidates need recent experience as a project leader on complex projects.
