Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Deputy Director for Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Programs to lead day-to-day operations across the portfolio and coordinate with Regional and National Headquarters staff.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years in social services or disaster recovery, at least 3 years of supervisory experience, and strong communication and program-management skills. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with routine travel to wildfire-impacted areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in social services or disaster recovery.
• At least 3 years supervising workforce engaged in direct client contact.
• Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating with partners and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day management of the Long-Term Recovery portfolio.
• Coordinate scheduling, staffing logistics, and deployment planning.
• Monitor progress against operational goals and flag risks.
• Supervise team members and support professional development.
• Ensure reporting and documentation across operations.
