Job summary

NYC Department of Finance, Tax Policy & Data Analytics Division, is seeking a Deputy Director to oversee advanced data analytics, model development, and reporting for revenue and budget analyses. The role collaborates with senior Audit staff to ensure models meet requirements and provide insights for policy decisions.

The position includes preparing complex model reports, guiding data-driven projects, and supporting multiple tax programs while complying with federal information requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration and two years of experience in budget, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal/economic research.
• Ability to analyze data, develop models, and communicate results to senior staff.
• Experience with tax or public finance data and auditing context is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Director with supervision of a unit performing advanced data analytics and quality review.
• Develop and maintain SAS models and code to support tax policy and data analytics projects.
• Prepare model reports and findings for bi-weekly meetings and inform ongoing modeling efforts.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests with accurate, well-documented results.
• Oversee reviews of tax return adjustments and assist in quality assurance processes.
