City of New York’s Department of Finance seeks a Deputy Director for the Data Intelligence Group. This full-time Civil Service role focuses on analytics, SAS programming, and model development to identify audit-worthy returns and ensure data quality.

The candidate will report to the Senior Director and contribute to multiple tax modeling initiatives while maintaining rigorous documentation and governance. Remote work up to 2 days weekly may be available under the pilot program.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, public administration or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience in budget administration, economic or financial research, or program evaluation.
• Executive/managerial experience is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist senior leadership with supervision of a data analytics unit.
• Develop and maintain SAS models and code for tax data analysis.
• Prepare model reports and communicate findings to auditors.
• Respond to data requests with well-documented results.
• Oversee reviews of tax return adjustments and QA processes.
• Participate in multiple tax modeling projects across taxes and data sources.
