Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking an Associate Deputy Director for Program Enablement to lead strategic workforce development and cross‑cutting program enablement within the Strategic Deterrence Directorate. The role shapes hiring strategies, staff development, and long‑term research investments across multiple divisions, interfacing with senior leadership and external sponsors.

Qualifications

• DOE Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance at hire.
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in a management team environment with leadership and personnel management skills.
• Experience developing, coordinating, or managing LDRD, research, or science/technology portfolios.
• Experience shaping strategic solutions to complex managerial problems.
• Broad line management experience and knowledge of lab policies and classifications.
• Excellent oral and written communication with senior leadership.
• Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience directing Technical Managers and senior leaders in complex environments.
• In-depth knowledge of LLNL mission, strategies, and programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SD workforce hiring, training, development, retention, succession planning, and culture.
• Oversee operation of the Design Physics Division, Facilities & Operations Support Division, and OCTC.
• Provide oversight of planning, staffing, budgeting, and methods to achieve major Laboratory programs and functions.
• Lead SD LDRD portfolio and influence LLNL LDRD portfolio for long-term investments.
• Shape Institutional Scientific Capability Portfolio and liaise with the Deputy Director for Science and Technology.
• Represent SD and LLNL to senior Lab management, DOE/NNSA, and other agencies.
• Lead employee engagement initiatives within SD and identify growth opportunities for staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
